"Ní neart go cur le chéile"

St Joseph's National School

St. Joseph’s NS is a Catholic co-educational primary under the patronage of Archbishop Michael Neary. The school is situated about 4.5 miles SW of Westport town on the edge of Brackloon Woods. The school was built in 1849 and has enjoyed a long tradition of quality education and great support from the local community.

In 2013 we moved into our beautiful state of the art new school with fabulous facilities in a beautiful environment surrounded by the foothills of Croagh Patrick and Brackloon Woods. The old school building is now used as a preschool and after school facility - Little Acorns and is run by a qualified Primary School teacher. The number of pupils at St. Joseph’s N.S. has continued to rise over the years and since 2021 it has seven mainstream classes.

The staff at St. Joseph’s N.S. are very committed to the holistic development of each individual child and they are fully supported in their work by the Board of Management, Home/School Association, Parent body and the local community.
